100 persons were asked to make a Digital Stories about their lives. This is part of an exhibition and a material which will be saved for the future. What does people in 2007 think, feel and what is their stories about? This is something that we can look at in the future and try to understand this period of time....
Film Stockholm is distributing a DVD with the films and a short documentary film about the project made by me.
This is a collaboration with Stockholms Läns Museum, Regionbiblioteket, Film Stockholm med stöd av Kulturnämnden, Stockholms Läns Landsting.

    MADE BY SUBKIDS

DOCUMENTARIES MADE BY YOUTHs IN THE SUBURBS.

  • Ostberga Ghetto:
One weekend I had the opportunity to work together with some wonderful youth's in a suburb. They wanted to make a cool shortfilm about the ghettolife in Stockholm. They brought some guns (toys) and some marijuana (also fake) for making the film more realistic. But real life was more frightening than they had expected. They cops came and harassed them, searching for the real stuff. Of course they where upset and a bit shocked, but they reacted like this was so obvious. Like the society didn't expect more from them than to be carrying guns and smokes. In the end the result was an excellent film about the environment they don't want in the future.
They want a safe place to live in, a place where cultural activities and sports is part of their everyday life. They are now showing their film for the politician's. Watch out!

    The Debate:
The other wonderful youth group, was the girls which had a lot of questions about gender rolls. So they gathered the boys in the youthcenter and held a debate. Why does guys think it's ok to insult girls by calling them "whores"? How would you feel if someone was calling you that? And what is the difference between girl-talk and guy-talk? Some guys felt that they also where insulted when girls called them "players" and that it was the same as calling them "whores". They debate was intense and moved in different directions.
It was like they had never met before and wanted to explore the differences between them!
